Best Answer: The primary impact area of the Dust Bowl, as it came to be known, was on the Southern Plains. The Northern Plains weren't so badly affected, but the drought, dust, and agricultural decline were felt there as well.

The Great Southern Plains were affected the most but it affected the northern Plains too. The dust bowl was caused by the lack of topsoil, a drought, and farm were plowed too deeply. Since the conditions were so harsh, this caused many people to migrate to California to look for jobs since it had more jobs than most other states despite it being the Great Depression.
