    Taxes were an ongoing source of conflict for the American colonists because they were taxed without having representation in Parliament, which of course led to a lot of conflict for their rights.

    Taxes were a major source of conflict for the American colonists was that they were being taxed without representation in the Parliament. The colonies went on to protect themselves by creating the first Continental Congress in 1774.
