    I would say that the answer that is a convention Chinese artist Shen Zhou used in his paintings is that C) he painted figures with a different color ink to emphasize their importance.

    I am not completely sure though.

    Shen Zhou painted all of his figurines a different color of ink to emphasize their individual importance. CHen Zhou was a very important artist in history, he was active during the Ming Dynasty.
