How did the growth of trade, commerce, and city-states create a boom in art and learning during the Renaissance?

Rennaissance means re-birth, and refers to the reborn interest in classical art and learning. the wealth generated by commerce and trade was often invested into universities and commisioned art. Because of this cities grew into educational and art centers.
