Malcolm X belonged to a poor African American family. He detested the lack of civil rights for Black Americans and during his time in prison he got close to The Nation of Islam. His brush with biased judicial system and treatment at the hands of society persuaded him to support black supremacy and denounce existing social order. Later on after entering mainstream Islam his ideas were considerable toned down.
