    They both sought to trade with one another through the Silk road. which led to various colonizing of the world because the Europeans wanted a faster way to trade for the goods in China instead of having to go over land on the silk road that their caravans might never reach because of bandits. So they both wanted t trade their wares with other countries which led to diversification.
