Describe the economic decline of the Ottoman Empire?

The empire's economy declined as the shift in world trade shifted from the Mediterranean, to the North Atlantic. This happened with the growth of the colonial empires. When the industrial revolution began in the 18th century, mostly in Western Europe, the focus was taken further away from the Mediterranean.
