Describe a Winkel Tripel projection map.

    It looks like a big oval,

    quite honestly, you should google it to see what one looks like

    the reason why it was created was because maps use to be drawn on rectangles. however the earth is round, so how to you map something round onto something flat. The result would be that areas near the poles would be significantly stretched, and hence you wouldnt be able to use it to measure distances between locations accurately.

    the winkel tripel map was a solution in order to reduce the total amount of distortion tht would be generated by mapping a round object onto a flat surface
