During what period did the Chinese become leaders in the shipbuilding industry?

It was during the Eastern Han Dynasty that the Chinese become leaders in the ship building industry and became successful. This was under the Wu kingdom between 220-280 AD. The industry made it more convenient for the Chinese to transport people and goods through the east of Yangtze River.
