The growth of factories and trade affected cities because with the increasing production with the products/services the cities population increased. This caused more businesses and jobs to be created which overall bettered the economy. Trade created newfound relationships with outsiders giving the city/country more allies which are incredibly useful in times of burden and war. These factors are very important in a striving economy.
