When could president eisenhower have chosen an alternative to containment and the arms race? how might history have been different if he had done so?

    He could've for example retreated and let communism spread which means he would not support fighting in Korea. It would've been different because you would probably have no South Korea since the North one was supported by China and without the US the south would've lost. This would probably happen if he supported an isolationist policy.
