What did the English nobles want from king john?

The English nobles, particularly the nobles from the north of England wanted King John to stop conflict and war, as they were not receiving any personal benefits from the war and owed debt money to King John. They felt very far removed from the King, as he operated from France across the Channel and felt much closer to their local links in Northern England and their loyalties to Great Britain in general. This made it hard for them to sympathize and agree with the King and they finally revolted after another failed war campaign of King John.
