Bohr thought that electrons orbited the nucleus in circular paths; whereas in the modern view atomic electron structure is more like 3D standing waves. Bohr built upon Rutherford's model of the atom ... He believed that electrons moved around the nucleus in circular orbits with quantised potential and kinetic energies.

    Good Morning!

The main difference of Bohr's model from the modern model is Bohr's assertion that electrons move in circular orbits. Modern theory accepts other types of orbits for electrons. Furthermore, for Bohr electrons were particles, only, we now accept that they are waves. Finally, a scientist believed that we can find the position and velocity of an electron perfectly, and we now know that it is only possible to estimate a possible location.
