    The correct answer is A. Germany broke its pact to not invade the Soviet Union.

    Germans and the Soviets had a non-aggression treaty signed called the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact which was put out of use after Germany broke it and attacked the Soviets. This in turn led to the Soviets entering and Alliance with UK and the US.
