Why were the Middle Colonies often called the Bread Colonies?

Wheat was the main export.

More bakers lived in the Middle Colonies.

Cash crops were grown on large plantations.

    Because they were known for making grain and wheat products to export to other colonies or Britain plus it was also because of the the way the land was formed meaning the soil was good for being able to plant and grow wheat to all types of bread
