    There are no choices but the reason for the war was because of the opium trade. The British dealt with Opium and the Chinese wanted it stopped and this led to the war and the Chinese were defeated. This led to the Treaty of Nanjing where the British got Hong Kong as well as other major ports from the Chinese.
