Today, most states prohibit the use of what kind of force to protect property

Apparently, the kind of force that must be prohibited when protecting one's property is the use of any deadly force. Other forces such as physical or imminent force can only create minor damages, but once it is deadly, it would be a different case because a life may be taken away without going on a due process.
