After the war, the colonists felt they had no longer needed the British troops and wanted them to leave. England insisted that the troops stay and that the colonists pay's as the people pay their tax to pay the soldier's wages and the colonists still had to house and feed the troops. Colonists were outraged and the sentiment of independence began thereafter.
