The Scientific Revolution was really the spread of the idea that scientific studies needed to be completed using the methods of observation and conclusion; not by looking back to works from the Middle Ages. The Enlightenment was caused by the Scientific Revolution because the Enlightenment was basically just an expansion of the Scientific Revolution to all aspects of life; not just scientific experiments. The logical thinking behind the Sci. Revolution led to the logical thinking behind the political, educational, and economic movements of the Enlightenment. Instead of running nations and systems based off of the needs of specific monarchs, rulers began to use logic to run their territories.
