    Well, Jefferson was more pro-French, contrary to Hamilton, which was pro-Britain. Yet they both agreed that since an ocean separated them, the US should stay out. And the French ambassador to the US at the time was stirring up trouble by rallying Americans to form privateer armies to fight for France. And the Louisiana purchase established good relations with France following the Quasi War, mainly because Napoleon saw that his dream of recreating France's North American empire was not going to happen due to the defeats in Haiti.
