The Confederacy was formed in 1861 when seven southern states left the Union. Four more states soon followed. Within a month, the Confederate Army was formed.     Robert E. Lee was in charge of the Confederate Army. Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States and Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate states. Ulysses S grant was commander of the Union Army, so none of those answers are correct.
