Since the death of the Prophet Muhammad and the recognition of succession after him, the history of relations between Sunni and Shia is often marked by violence. Shia minority over the centuries was exterminated by the Sunni majority and its rulers, who treated the Shia as a threat to their political and religious power, in Persia Shia since 7th held status of official religion and adapted lot of things from ancient Persian monotheistic religion zoroastrianism, every attempt of imposing Sunni Islam in Persia was seen as effort of arabisation and forced submission of Persian people
