Both Alaska and Hawaii became states in 1959. What else do they have in common

    Alaska and Hawaii are only territories where battles of WW 2 were fought on American soil. In Alaska it was The Aleutian Islands Campaign, fight lasting from 3 June 1942 to 15 August 1943 on the Aleutian Islands between US forces and Canadian and Japanese. Hawaii were attacked by Japanese forces in 1942 December 9. Battle of Pearl Harbor was casus belli for U. S to join the WW2
