    The fall of the Mauryan Empire is closely related to the death of Emperor a) Ashoka. He was not the last emperor of the Empire, but the Empire shrunk considerably after his death and he was regarded as a great warrior emperor, who conquered large parts of what would now be the modern-day Indian subcontinent.
