Why was the money issued by the Continental Congress of little value?

The short supply of money caused many to barter for goods.

The money did not have enough gold and silver to back it up.

England controlled the currency.

    Well, i know that paper money was not that valuable as gold or silver. it had very little value to the people as gold or silver was worth more.
