Immediately following World War II, the Korean Peninsula

    Korea was divided into the North and the South with America occupying the South and the Soviets occupied the North. Later the North tried to invade the South and this led to the Korean War. It started along the 38th Parallel and ended there. It was a draw and no side won the war. To this day both sides are still divided.
