What is 8x-5 - 6x equals 7

    8x-5-6x=7

    Step 1) Gather your like terms on the left side so 8x and - 6x will add together and become 2x.

    Step 2) Now you have this equation: 2x-5=7 now you would add 5 to both sides and the 5's on the left side will cancel and then you will get: 2x=12

    Step 3) For the final step you will divide both sides by 2 and 12 divided by 2 is 6 therefor x=6
