If the area of a rectangle is 24a2b and the length is 8ab2, what would be the width of the rectangle, given that width is found by dividing area by length?

    24a2b can be rewritten as 48ab and 8ab2 can be rewritten as 16ab to make it simpler later on. Now we have the Area (48ab) and Length (16ab).

    Width = (48ab) / (16ab).

    Both 48 and 16 can be divided by 16 thus simplifying to (3ab) / (ab) The ab's cancel each other out or equal one when divided.

    We are then left with the answer 3 for the width of the garden.
