If the length of one side of a square is 12.0 m, what is the perimeter of the square? express the perimeter to three significant figures and include the appropriate units.

    Perimeter is the distance around a two-dimensional shape. To calculate this value we add all of the side lengths of a shape. For a square it is 4 times the measurement of a side length since all lengths are of equal value. Therefore, the perimeter would be 4x12 = 48 meters.
