So, if the ratio of girls to boys is 3:2 (imagine this: 3 and 2 groups of equal number, that's 5 groups and then each group will have 40/5=8 people), so there are 3*8=24 boys and 2*8=16 girls.

this ratio means dividing the girls into 1+3+2+2=8 groups of 2, so the actual numbers are:

2:6:4:4

4 : 3 : 1 this ratio means dividing the boys into 4+3+1=8 groups of 3, so the actual numbers are:

12:9:1
