Use a common denominator to write an equivelent fractions for each fraction.

1. 5/12,2/9 common denominator=

    If you are saying that you need the same denominators for each fraction your answer will be - 5/12 = 15/36 and 2/9 = 8/36

    5*3/12*3 = 15/36

    2*4/9*4 = 8/36

    There we go, we have common denominators.

    15/36 and 8/36
