    5/12 of students worked on homework, what you do is you first add up the total amount of students, which is 12. That becomes our denominator. Then, we already know that there are five students doing homework. That becomes our denominator. 5/12 also cannot be simplified because 5 is a prime number, so therefore, 5/12 is in simplist form.
