A rectangular cake has a length of inches 20 1/4 and a width of inches 13 1/2. How many whole, square pieces of cake with side lengths of inches 2 1/4 can be cut from the cake?

    54 pieces. First find the area of the whole cake (20 1/4*13 1/2 = 273.375). Then find the area of one piece (2 1/4*2 1/4 = 5.0625). Finally divide 273.375 by 5.0625 and you get 54 pieces.
