    Your answer would be a because 6 times 3 is 18 and 6 times 2 is 12 all your doing is distributing the 6 into 3 and 2 meaning multiplying

    Ab+ac=a (b+c)

    where a is the greatest common factor

    find gcf of each

    factor each

    18=2*3*3

    12=2*2*3

    GCF=2*3=6

    so

    18+12=6 (3) + 6 (2) = 6 (3+2)

    first one is the answer
