A rectangle is 13 centimeters longer than it is wide. Its perimeter is 226 centimeters. What are the length and width?

    Let width be x

    let length be x+13

    perimeter=2 * (L+W)

    226=2 * (x+x+13)

    226=2 * (2x+13)

    226=4x+26

    subtract 26 from each sides

    200=4x

    x=50, which is the width

    length=63
