    The number of students who enrolled in business mathematics alone can be calculated by subtracting the number of students enrolled in both from the total number of students enrolled for business mathematics.

    x = 600 - 173 = 427

    In similar manner, we solve for the number of students enrolled for only statistics

    y = 300 - 173 = 127

    The total number of students enrolled in two courses altogether is the sum of x and y and 173.

    T = 427 + 127 + 173 = 727

    Thus, all in all there are 727 students enrolled in the two courses.
