    The length can be found using the Pythagorean Theorem ...

    c^2=a^2+b^2 and in this case:

    d^2 = (dx^2) + (dy^2)

    d^2 = (3-7) ^2 + (12-9) ^2

    d^2=-4^2+3^2

    d^2=16+9

    d^2=25

    d=5

    So the length of AB=5 units.
