A cylindrical piece of iron pipe is shown below. The wall of the pipe is 1.25 inch thick: The figure shows a cylinder of height 16 inches and diameter 6 inches. What is the approximate inside volume of the pipe?

    V=hπr^2 using d we get:

    V = (hπd^2) / 4

    V = (16π/4) (6-2*1.25) ^2

    V = (4π) (3.5) ^2

    V=49π in^3

    V≈153.94 in^3
