Trish had a square garden with side lengths of 8 feet. She extended her garden to 10 feet, By how many square feet did she expand the area of her garden?

    This is a subtraction problem where we are looking for the difference between an 8x8 plot and a 10x10

    10^2-8^2

    100-64 = 36

    The garden was expanded by 26 square feet
