    Part a.

    If each pound costs $0.55, then multiplying $0.55 by the number of pounds, p, gives you the cost, c.

    c = 0.55p

    To find the cost to ship 2 lb, substitute 2 for p in the equation.

    c = 0.55 (2) = 1.10

    It costs $1.10 to ship 2 lb.

    part b.

    If the price is reduced by $0.05 per pound, now the cost to ship per pound is $0.50.

    The new equation is

    c = 0.5p
