How to solve multi step equations with variables on both sides and parentheses?

    First expand the parentheses

    Then rearrange the variables so they are on one side of the equation

    Then rearrange the constant terms so they are on the other side

    Example-

    7x - 3 (x - 2) = x + 3

    7x - 3x + 6 = x + 3

    -x - x

    7x - 4x + 6 = 3

    -6 - 6

    7x - 4x = - 3

    3x = - 3

    x = - 1
