How to find where two lines interesect on a graphing calculator?

On the TI-83

put one equation in Y1 and the other in Y2

press graph (look for an intersection to appear in this window)

if you see it proceed to press 2nd trace 5 enter enter enter answer will be at

the bottom of the screen X = Y=

if you don't see it adjust you window by pressing the window key change

Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Ymax to get a bigger window ... graph (do you see an

intersection?) press 2nd trace 5 enter enter enter

be sure to check slopes if they are equal no solution will be found between the two lines
