Why an angle that is supplementary to an acute angle must be an obtuse angle

    Because an acute angle is less than 90 and supplementary angles must equal 180 so the other angle must be obtuse

    Because the acute angle is less than 90 degrees, the supplimentary angle must be greater than 90 degrees for them to add up to 180.
