The function y=2x+4 has a domain of 2,3,5,7, and 8.

What number is not in the range of the function?

    The answer is 12 because:

    2 (2) + 4 = 8

    2 (3) + 4=10

    2 (5) + 4=14

    2 (7) + 4=18

    2 (8) + 4=20

    But no numbers in the domain will give you 12 as a value of y
