    Let x be the first

    the second x + 2

    the third x + 4

    twice the smallest 2x

    three times the largest 3 (x+4)

    2x + 3 (x+4) = 42

    2x + 3x + 12 = 42

    5x = 30

    x=6 the second is 8 the third is 10
