If each term of a sequence changes by a common difference, d, what would a general rule for this type of sequence be?

    A sequence which posses common difference is called an arithmetic sequence. This sequence is given by the formula Xn=a+d (n-1);

    where:

    a=first term

    d=common difference

    n=nth term

    Thus the general rule is:

    Xn=a+d (n+1)
