(10 + x) $.05 + $.10x = $3.50.

$.50 + $.05x + $.10x = $3.50.

$ (.05 +.10) x = $ (3.50 -.50).

$.15x = $3.00.

x = $3.00/$.15.

x = 20 dimes

So (20 + 10) nickels.

So you add 10 nickels and then add the rest of the dimes
