1. Measure the distance the solvent front traveled from the baseline (m1). 2. Measure the distance the reactant b spot traveled (the center of the spot) (m2). 3. To determine the rf, divide (m2/m1). 4. Significant figures - use 2 so the answer should be written to the hundredths place as the spot will not travel farther than the solvent front.
