The baseball team has sold tickets to a spaghetti dinner. forty-eight student tickets have been sold at $1.50 each. if the baseball team has made $149 total from the sale of all tickets, and adult tickets cost $3.50, how many adult tickets were sold?

    Let the number of adults be x

    number of students is 48

    Amount collected from students=48 * (1.5) = $72

    Amount collected from adults=3.5*x=3.5x

    Total amount collected will be:

    72+3.5x=149

    solving for x we have:

    3.5x=149-72

    3.5x=77

    thus

    x=77/3.5

    x=22

    thus the number of adults was x = 22
