Find the value of sin x° and cos y°. What relationship do the ratios of sin x° and cos y° share? A right triangle is shown with one leg measuring 15 and another leg measuring 8. By pythagoras the length of the hypotenuse is sqrt (8^2 + 15^2) = sqrt (289) = 17

    sin x = opposite / hypotenuse = 8/17 and cos y = adjacent / hypotenuse = 8/17)

    As you can see sin x = cos y when x + y = 90 degrees.
